                  Shipping Time Update 03/01/08
We are currently running behind on shipping orders and email replies. Orders are being shipped out in 5-10 business days. This includes orders requested by air as well. Requesting an air shipment will not guarantee same or next day shipping. This is an approximation and could vary either way. We will try to respond to emails as soon as possible. Sending multiple emails will not speed the process up. If you sent an email, we read it, but again, have not the time to respond in the manner we both would like to. We apologize for any inconvenience. If your credit card was recently charged then your order is ready to ship or has shipped.
If your order is several weeks behind, chances are we are out of stock on the item or several items and are holding the order until we can ship complete. (our policy on backorders is clearly defined on our Terms and Conditions page.
Please be aware, we are a family owned business that has been serving the electronic community for 20 years. Our resources for staff is very limited. Also, we only have one phone line coming into our store. You may experience difficulty getting through at certain busy times of the day.  Thank you.

 

Minimum Order

$10.00 is the minimum order before shipping charges.

Payment

We accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express. No added surcharges. You may pay by check or money order in U.S. funds (drawn on a U.S. bank). Please be aware that orders paid by check will be held until check clears the bank. This can be any where from 2-10 days depending on your location.

C.O.D.

We no longer ship C.O.D.

Net 30

Net 30 accounts are granted automatically to schools, cities, towns, and government agencies. 
Our terms are Net 30 from invoice date, strictly enforced. Accounts over 30 days will automatically be put on credit hold and are subject to late fees of 1.5% per month or 18% annum plus legal fees if necessary. Net 30 accounts are subject to a $50.00 minimum not including shipping.

Hours

Our hours are Monday thru Thursday 9:30AM to 4:00PM EST. Friday's 9:30AM to Noon EST. We are closed Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.  Hours subject to change without notice.

Placing an Order

Orders may be placed via mail, phone, internet, or fax. Mail in orders address to: Ocean State Electronics, P.O. Box 1458, Westerly, RI 02891.  Or you may fax your order. Our fax line is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. While we do maintain a real brick & mortar store, we do not offer a showroom to browse or pick items up from. 

Technical Assistance

Technical assistance will be limited to our products only. We do not provide information on repair, building, hook-up, etc. In most instances we actually will refer you to the manufacturer of the product you are purchasing.

Quotations

Unless very large quantities are involved, prices on the web shall serve as our quote. 

Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy is simple. We NEVER sell, rent, or share our customer information to anyone, NEVER!!!
We also do not send emails soliciting our products. The only email you will ever get from us would be in regards to your order or a return response from a question.

Taxes

Orders shipped in the state of Rhode Island only are charged R.I. Sales Tax of 7%.  Our online order form does not show this for RI customers, but we do add it to your invoice when we process your order. If you are tax exempt, please fax us a copy of your exemption certificate. i

Shipping (U.S. & Possessions)

Our fee for most orders shipped UPS ground or US mail in the continental U.S. is $10.00. This includes APO, FPO, and U.S. possessions. Normal method of shipping is UPS Ground or U.S. Mail  unless order is going to APO, FPO, U.S. possessions, or to a PO Box. These orders will be shipped by U.S. mail only. The fee for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico is $25.00 by UPS and $10.00 by U.S. mail. UPS ground deliveries can range from 1 to 7 days depending on your location. For 2nd day or next day delivery use UPS Blue or Red. The fee for UPS Blue (2 day delivery) is $20.00 UPS Orange (3 day) is $16.00 and  UPS Red (next day) is $40.00. All shipping amounts are only an average. The amount will vary depending on your location and the weight of the package. Credit card and net 30 orders will be billed actual amount. If your mail in order requires more money for shipping, we will notify you by phone to send more money. This is why a phone number is important for all mail in orders. Chemicals can only be shipped by UPS ground in the Continental US. We may override your requested method of shipping depending on the package and its location unless you specify in the comments field not to. Again, chemicals will always be overridden to ship UPS ground.

Shipping Times

We make no guarantees when an order will ship. However, most orders which contain items that are in stock ship within 2-15 business days. Items with a long list of small parts take longer to ship. This also applies to orders requested to ship by UPS Red, Blue, or Orange. During busy times of the year, ie, October to December, shipping times may be longer. Again, this includes orders that are requested by air shipment. We will still ship the order by air, but, it may still take several days for it to ship. We suggest you call your air shipment in if you absolutely must have it right away. Let the  salesperson know of this. We will do what we can to get it out sooner. If your order contains an item or items that are out of stock, we will hold that order until the parts come in. We will hold orders up to 60 business days unless you specify in the comments field on the order form not to. We do not provide tracking numbers unless a package appears to be lost. 

Shipping (Canada & Oversea’s)

We do not ship to many overseas countries. This is due to several reasons. First, we have encountered a lot of fraud with credit cards. Second, we need to obtain address and phone verifications from the issuing bank. Most overseas banks will not provide us with this information. Canada and Mexico are usually never a problem. Others placing an order may receive an email back that we can not process the order and we have cancelled it. To save you some time, you may want to email us first and see if we can sell to you. When we do ship outside of the United States,  we ship by Air Mail or UPS ground to Canada and Global Express Mail or Federal Express abroad. The fee for Canada shipping starts at $25.00 and may vary according to the weight of the package. The fee for overseas starts at $40.00 and may vary according to the size of the package. We do not ship small packet because there is no way to insure the package. Air Mail to Canada can take up to 4 weeks. Usually this is because it is held up in customs. The Post Office will not expedite a package unless it has not been delivered for 30 days. UPS ground to Canada takes about 4-7 days. It is the customers responsibility to pay all duties.
Note Also: Many items we carry are very fragile, ie, Toroids, lamps, test equipment etc. Since we can not control the manner in which these items are handled in shipping, we ship these items at the customers own risk. Ocean State Electronics shall not be responsible for broken items received. No credit or exchange will be made. Likewise, with lost packages. Once a package is shipped it shall become the customer's responsibility should the package become lost in shipping. Ocean State Electronics shall take no responsibility. Please be aware of this when placing your order.

Back Orders

We attempt to stock all items listed on our website. However, from time to time, an item or items will be out of stock. If we only have one supplier for this item and they too are out of stock, delivery can sometimes be many weeks. Fortunately, most back orders are filled within 2 weeks or less. We will either hold the order until we can fill it completely or ship a partial depending on the dollar amount of the order and the dollar amount of the item we are out of stock on. Generally if the total of the backordered item is less then $5.00 we will not backorder it. We will ship what is in stock and cancel the item and indicate for you to order at a later time. If an item is backordered, there will be a shipping fee to ship the backordered item. We usually charge half of the normal shipping rate. f you would like us to ship partial orders, cancel any back orders, and issue a refund or credit on your account please indicate this on your order.  You will not be notified of your order being held up for a backorder unless you indicate in the comments field how you would like us to handle any items that may be out of stock, ie, hold order for XX days, ship partial, etc. If you mail your order in and pay by check or money order we shall hold the order for any backorders unless you indicate to ship what is in stock and issue a credit or refund for the out of stock item(s). If not indicated, credit towards future order will be given.

Substitutions

We reserve the right to substitute a higher quality or equivalent part or product at our option unless you specify no substitutions at the time your order is place. This would occur if the part you are ordering is either out of stock, discontinued, or no longer being carried.

Pictures

Pictures in our paper catalog or on our website are in some instances only representative of an item. If the looks of the product is that critical then it may be wise to call your Ocean State Salesperson for more details.

Item Descriptions

The items shown on our website and in our catalog have been described according to information supplied to us by our supplier's. However, there are instances where a manufacturer will change an item's specification or we may purchase the item from a different manufacturer whose specifications may be slightly different. Keep this in mind when ordering something where the specifications may be important to you, for example a switch size or terminal lug size, etc.  If the information is that critical we suggest you purchase a sample(s) or contact an Ocean State Electronics Representative for more information. We shall not be responsible for specification changes.

Disclaimer

There are no express or implied warranties. Since seller cannot control the manner or use of its products after the sale, the seller will not be responsible for any consequential or indirect damages.

Prices and Product Availability

Prices and product availability on this website were current as of December 2005. However prices and availability are subject to change. We shall inform you at the time you place your order of any drastic price increases. Small price increases will be billed at the current new price.

Typographical Errors

Ocean State Electronics shall not be responsible for typographical errors, ie, pricing, photos, descriptions, etc. 

Claims for Shortages

Claims for shortage, damage, or loss must be made with 7 days of receipt of order or claim will be disallowed.

Returns

Due to the high cost of processing paperwork and labors involved, all returns will be subject to a minimum 15% restocking charge unless there was an error on our part or the product was defective. No credit for shipping charges. Absolutely no returns on books. tubes,  semiconductors. or kits that have been assembled. We have found that in 99% of the kits that don't work the problem is due to incorrect wiring, cold solder joints, component misplacement, etc. Some of our kit suppliers will take the kit back and for a fee get it up and running. We will put you in contact with them.  You must call first to receive an RGA number (returned goods authorization). This number must appear on the outside of the package being returned. We will refuse any package coming back to us that does not have the RGA number clearly marked on the outside. We recommend you ship the package back via UPS or insured mail. We shall not be responsible for packages sent without insurance. If you are returning the item for credit, we shall issue you a credit to your credit card if originally paid by credit card, or if order was paid by check or money order, we shall issue a refund check. Please allow 2-4 weeks for credit. Returns must be made within 14 days from invoice date. Please include a copy of the invoice and state the reason for return.

Order Limitations

We reserve the right to reject any order you place with us, and/or or to limit quantities on any order, without giving any reason. If we reject your order, we will generally attempt to notify you using the e-mail address you gave us when you placed the order.
