PCDATAK™ is supplied on one 3.5" diskette with a quick start manual. The full user's manual is larger and must be printed by the user, approximately 75 pages in length. The NEW PCDATAK™ software lets you create PC boards ranging from prototypes to hobby projects, and on a par with the pro's. You may do the complete printed circuit board layout artwork on your own PC; at a fraction of the cost of other programs. Print the layout on any PostScript™ compatible printer, either on regular paper to be photographed for a positive or negative, or on clear film to be used directly as a positive with other Datak products. PCDATAK™ will produce soldering pads for all standard components, including the latest in surface mount products. Custom “features” (components) may be designed easily, when needed. User selectable pads and connecting trace widths let you do any circuit that you can imagine. The NEW PCDATAK™ software from DATAK may be used on any MS-DOS, IBM compatible personal computer with a system minimum of: a hard drive, 2 megabyte free drive space, 640K RAM, a high density 3.5" diskette drive and a mouse is recommended. Printing does require a PostScript™ printer which can often be found at a local copy center if you do not have your own. What is PCDATAK™? The PCDATAK program is a CAD system for designing and producing printed circuit boards. It allows the user to make his schematic circuit into a printed circuit layout file and to use that file to print PC board artwork that is used to produce a finished PC board, solder masks and component side I.D. silk screens. Who uses PCDATAK™? The software has been designed for use by nearly anyone wanting to make a PC board, either in quantity or in prototype lots, at a software cost low enough for nearly anyone's pocket. Additionally, PCDATAK™ software may be used to create a circuit that can be produced, from your disk file, by a professional PC board manufacturing company: International Design Modeling of Bedford, NH (particulars are in the introduction in the enclosed manual). This may be of special interest to users needing either large quantities or prototyping very complex boards. What can PCDATAK™ do? The software can produce either a single sided or double sided PC board up to 30" x 30" in size. Industry accepted component pad and trace sizes are preset or the user may also customize the software for any desired components. Component identification silkscreen art and solder mask art are also produced. How do I print the Circuit? PCDATAK™ circuits may be printed (or copied on a copy machine) directly onto a clear carrier sheet, such as those made for overhead projectors, and then used as a 1:1 "positive" in making a PC board. A Postscript™ compatible laser printer may be used; ordinary dot matrix and ink jet printers will not work. If you do not have a PostScript™ printer, call your local copy centers where you can very likely take your circuit on a disk and print it for a moderate fee. PCDATAK™ system requirements: Nearly any IBM-PC or compatible with a minimum of 640K on board memory may be used. A hard disk is mandatory as is a 3.5" disk drive. A mouse will make the job much easier and is strongly recommended. Note: PCDATAK™ is not shareware or freeware in any sense. The user is entitled to use one copy at a time may not duplicate the software except for his own personal use and for backup purposes. Copies made for any other purpose are unauthorized and illegal. |
